From the Mountain Top

Hello all,

I just lost the text of my whole entry because I forgot to minimize before going to Photobucket.  So this will be shorter than the original.  That should make some of you happy.

I took my AT&T wi-fi card back to them because I couldn't stay on long even enough to answer an e-mail.  So for the next while I will be posting and answering e-mails from my daughter's house once or twice a week.

I have not adjusted well to the mountains.  It's too cold even now for me.  The summer will yield us temperatures of up to and over 110 degrees.  I can't handle that either.  I'm guessing that I will be back home in Ventura by the end of June.

Below I am posting a couple of pictures of a town called Ingot, population 30.  It's at about 1200' altitude.  I really don't believe the population is that large ;)

Close-up of the building above.   Below is a close-up of the red rock. This same creek runs behind my daughter's house.  It's deeper up by her and much wider.

I have missed you all so terribly I was used to daily online and after 2 months here, I feel deprived.  I think of you often.  Many blessings and love,

Update . . .

Hi all . . . . just a quick update to let you know I am alive.  I still don't have my phone and DSL set up, so I am at my daughter's house checking mail and stuff.

I won't be long . . . it's colder today and near dark.  I'm not that sure of the roads yet.  I am moving to a bigger room this week.  The other one was like a dungeon and waay to close to my housemates.

The dogs are settling in as are the birds.  I still feel like a fish out of water, but hopefully that will change soon.  I wonder if I am as adaptable as I was when I went to Mexico.  I'm quite a few years older now.

Fortunately, I am close to my family here.  Keep me in your prayers as I continue to pray for all of you,

The Big Move

To our new home!  For the time being, I am sharing a home here, but as spring and summer arrive, we are looking for a private home. I guess I don’t need to be alone for a while.

I have moved to the mountains above Redding, CA. Its a huge change from Ventura, to say the least. I woke up to 30 degree cold this morning. My light-weight pajamas just arent enough! I have the birds and my little doggies with me, but Rob is still in Ventura.  I miss him terribly already.  I have a TV and a warm blanket, but it’s just not the same. Last night was my first night in my own room here. Alone, boo hoo L

That being said, it’s absolutely beautiful up here. All around there are trees and green grass beginning to sprout. A few of the trees are beginning to flower. I think I will come to love it here. I am glad I didn’t make the move while there was still snow on the ground. A few days ago, it rained and hailed. The hail was the size of a gumball. I was impressed.

Andrea had her birthday last week and I was here to share it with her. I have only missed one of her birthdays since she was born. Actually, it was a birthday week. Heather’s father had his birthday on the 9th, my granddaughter turned 23 on the 10th and Andrea turned 14 on the 11th. Time surely flies! I remember when Ashley was born, very premature. The told us if she lived, it would be months before we could take her home and then she could be blind and experience mental and physical delays. Hah! When I first saw Andrea, she was 7 ½ months old and weighed just 4.4 lbs. The doctor said she would probably die that night and I was crazy to want to care for her. Hah! Only the Lord knows these things and He had other ideas for these beautiful girls.

I will have my own DSL in the next week or so. It depends on when the phone company can schedule it. I just can’t wait. Im very impatient. I miss using the internet. I’ve only been without for a day and already I am champing at the bit to get it going again, LOL. It won’t be the same as my broadband hook-up, but I will be on and that’s what matters.

Thats it for me today. I miss you all terribly. May the Lord bless and keep you all,

Just Stuff and New Specs

These are my new glasses and my new look.  I've worn round glasses for years.  Probably since I was a teen.  In my 20's, I wore them because I idolized Janis Joplin . . . and because some said I looked very much like her.  I just never changed.

Do you think 59 is too old to change?  I hope not.  I'm liking the new glasses and my weight loss.

Today the weather here in sunny SoCal was quite warm.  It was a nice change from the chill we'd had the past few days.  You kind of have to understand California natives ~ especially those of us from the south.  To us, as the temperature starts to drop below 60, we start complaining.  When the temps drop into the 30's, we not only complain, but double up on blankets and clothing.   Here's the deal:  We will be moving up north sometime soon.  Up there, they have snow!  You know . . . that white stuff that covers the ground and keeps pets and people inside by the fire.  It's going to be a total shock for my body.  I'm not sure how long it will take me to adjust to the change.  Also, I understand that in the summer there, the temps are extremely high - like over 110 sometimes.  Oh!  Mercy me.

I really miss writing here in my journal.  It's always been so important to me.  The last few months, so much has been happening here that I find it hard to get things done.  My time on the 'puter is seriously limited.  The most serious issue in our lives is coming down to the wire . . . so though we won't have the same kind of "normal" as we did before, we will settle into the new normal.  Whew!

I appreciate the prayers you have been saying for us.  Keep it up.  It may be slow but your prayers are definitely working.  I pray for you guys all the time.  Both in our early prayers and throughout the day as your names pop into my head.  You all mean so much to me.  If you have a request, just e-mail me and I will start praying right away.

May the Lord richly bless each and every one of you,

                                    Thank you Donna!

J-LAND Photo Shoot #128 ~ My Pet

I'm so glad to be participating in Krissy's shoot again.  I have been having camera dilemmas.  Praise God it's fixed now.  Taking and sharing pictures is great fun for me.

This week's challenge is "My Pet"   . . . right down my alley, LOL.

We have just birds and dogs here right now.  Our cat went to live with Andrea and her sister north of here in the mountains.  Also, all of our fancy birds have gone, but we are raising cockatiels.  Currently we have two babies.  The parents, Summer and Skipper have been a pair for over 9 years now.  They seem to be slowing down a little - last clutch was just one chick - Atticus.  This clutch was 3, but one of the smaller chicks died.  That's when I removed the other tiny chick so she would not suffer the same fate.  Below is a picture of both together . . .

As you can see, there is a great disparity in sizes.  We haven't named the big one yet (have any ideas?) but the little one I call Tumble.  When she eats, she stretches way up and sometimes tumbles over ~ she's very funny.

This time last year, we added a couple of Pomeranian pups;  Coco and Precious.  Most of you have seen Sammy, our Greyhound and Kessa, our death row doggie.  Below is a pic of our Pommies:

That's Sammy's tail dividing them.  Precious (black) is "my" dog.  I love her and spoil her like crazy.  Coco is Andrea's dog.  He will probably live with her very soon.

Blessings and love to you all,

So just WHAT did she do??

I tried so hard to get a picture of my dog.  She's so dark that every place I put her was too dark for me to get it.  So here is a very good rendition of her from the net ^

I have had Pomeranian doggies most of the time since I was in my late 20's.  My favorites have always been the small black ones.  My first was a black male we named Sparkle Plenty, his eyes were so sparlky that the name just fit.  Shortly after Spark died, I got another black Pom named Teddy Bear.  He died 6 years ago.  That broke my heart, but we were missionaries in a children's home so we decided to wait a while.  My Precious is an unpapered little doll and I spoil her like crazy.  We also have Coco Bean, a brown Pommy.  He is untrained and eats everything in sight, mostly paper but he will eat the sofa as well.  He sleeps outside with Sammy our Greyhound and Kessa, a very small and furry rescue dog.  She's 13 years old.

We've been keeping Precious inside because Rob wants to spoil me.  We put her outside with the others several times a day to go potty and play with them.  She wouldn't stay out for any time at all, so we've been keeping her inside.  We figured we would find her little poops everywhere.  We haven't.  Not anywhere!  So yesterday . . .

I went in to clean the cat box and found that . . . out little doggy is BOX TRAINED!!  Isn't that a gas?  I know that people have box-trained there small dogs, but I think the cat trained her

Blessings all around to you who read my life,

Belated, but . . .

I know ~ I'm a day late and a dollar short ~ but I wanted to wish you all a Happy and Blessed New Year.

I am truly at peace entering 2008.  We had a lot of trials and tribulations, but made it through last year with the help of the Lord.

Our daughter Andrea has gone to live with her sister Heather.  Because of my illnesses, I can't care for her properly.  It was a difficult decision, but the best for all of us.  She's completely happy there and loves the snow.  I am really at peace for the first time in several months.

I didn't make resolutions,  haven't for years.  I do have a goal for this year:  I want to stay at peace, leaving the past behind and trust the Lord to help me reach the goal.  He did help with the struggles of 2007.

This will be short and sweet.  I want to thank the wonderful tag and graphics artists who have helped me/us to decorate our journals.  I know who they are, but I'm afraid that i would forget would forget one.  I respect and am in awe of your talents.

Love and prayers to all of my friends here,
